The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Department oversees the management of various teacher and student ICT related platforms, logistics and maintenance of school based devices and equipment. We continually provide staff with the necessary support in terms of livestreaming, lesson recordings, and A/V requirements for school and staff needs.
The department continually strives to provide continued service related to teacher devices and student Personal Learning Devices (PLDs). We are also able to provide advice and insight into matters related to ICT enactment during lessons and the technical aspect of e-Pedagogy.
We believe that an ICT-enriched environment supports Crestians in deeper learning and will nurture their joy of learning.
Through an ICT-enriched environment, Crestians have multiple opportunities to interact and collaborate with classmates, teachers, and others within and beyond the classroom. Crestians can expand their horizons through experiential learning, blended learning and learning in the online environment.
We believe Crestians can achieve, through effective instruction empowered by technology, by inviting them to learn in both the physical world of the classroom as well as in the digital world beyond the classroom.
We are committed to support ICT-enabled instruction, to allow students to engage in rich learning tasks and to depend on teachers and themselves to drive the learning environment.
Students in PRCS go through a series of ICT Student Enrichment Programs (iSEP) at different levels to help prepare them for learning inside and outside of the digital classroom as well as the digital workplace of the future.
Secondary 1 iSEP
Students are inducted into the use of various ICT platforms and programs that are utilized in various aspects of the schools curriculum.
This is to prepare students for learning inside and outside of the digital classroom and during Crestian Learning Day (Home Based Learning) which takes place throughout their time in Secondary school. The program also helps to familiarize students with the various ICT portals that are used.
Students are also educated in matters of cyberwellness such as having an appropriate amount of screen time/device usage and learning how to make use of the data they obtain through different online platforms.
Platforms & Apps:
Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Sites... etc.)
Microsoft OneDrive & OneNote
Student Learning Space (SLS)
ClassPoint
Secondary 2 iSEP
The Secondary 2 iSEP lesson aims to equip students with the skills required to produce a self-directed and self-produced video to support the school's Applied Learning Programme (ALP) - Effective Communicator.
Students participate in an online self-paced and self-directed learning module on:
Video Editing and Effects using CapCut.
Storyboarding.
Considerations of the how and why while filming a video.
Secondary 3 iSEP
In Secondary 3, students are taught how to prepare and present an online Digital Portfolio where they can capture their personal statements, achievements and contributions. This prepares them for their application to post-secondary pathways such as the Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) and Direct School Admission (DSA).
This collaboration between the schools CCE and EdTech Committees will:
Teach students the required technical skills and knowledge on how to use Google Sites effectively.
How an online Digital Portfolio looks like and what information should be provided.
How to write and complete their personal statement.
The prescribe Personal Learning Device (PLD) that our school uses is the Lennovo 500e Gen 3 Chromebook.
The lightweight, rugged 11” Intel powered Chromebook
A 2 in 1 with four convertible modes
All-day battery life
An optional garaged pen for sketching and taking notes
Perfect for researching, learning, and sharing content
WiFi 6, or optional 4G for learning on the go
Equipped with features great for both in & out of the classroom learning
We leverage on a variety of learning platforms to enable students learning both in and outside of the classroom. Below are some platforms that students will make use of during their time in PRCS.
Google Suite
Students make use of the tools in Google Suite (Classroom, Docs, Slides etc.) to enable them to work collaboratively with each other and prepare them for the digital workplace of the future.
Classpoint
Students will be engaged in classroom lessons allowing them to participate digitally by answering questions, drawing a picture of giving feedback.
Microsoft 365 Suite
Students are provisioned with an iCON (@students.edu.sg) account and MS365 access. Students can engage in digital work using OneNote and ClassNoteBook.
Students Learning Space (SLS)
SLS is a familiar platform for students coming from Primary school. Students are encouraged to perform Self-Directed Learning on this platform and teachers practice differentiated instruction using SLS to help address all learners needs.
