At PRCSS, the NYAA Silver Programme is offered as an opt-in opportunity for students as part of their leadership development. Under the Service Learning component, students are required to complete a minimum of 40 hours of regular community activities over at least 8 months. This initiative helps students develop into socially responsible citizens by understanding the challenges faced by communities and actively contributing to solutions. Through Values-In-Action (VIA) projects or other community service activities, students learn the importance of giving meaningful service and reflect on the value of volunteerism.
With the warm support of our community partners, our students come together to form interest-groups where they design their service learning projects to contribute to the respective organisations on a sustained basis. The structured mentorship programme will equip students with the skills and values needed to make a positive impact on society while fostering personal growth and civic responsibility.

Q5. How should we document our VIA service learning hours for the NYAA Silver Programme?
Participants are required to submit documentation that records students' details of involvement and contribution hours as part of the awards verification. As a good practice, it would be helpful to request for the organisation to sign off on the last page of the Student Handbook with an organisation stamp which shows a record of the service-learning hours.
Alternatively, recognition of service hours could come in the form of a Letter of Appreciation from the community partner.
Photographs / Video artefacts may be supplemented with permission from the partner organisation. Students are reminded to check in on media consent and guidelines before publishing these media content on any platform.
All NYAA (Silver) participants are reminded to regularly document their reflections for the Service component in their 'NYAA Silver Digital Booklet' via Google Classroom.
