The Buddy Readers Programme

The Buddy Readers Programme was launched in 2023 in a heartwarming initiative aimed at fostering a love for reading and strengthening bonds within the community. This programme recognises the profound impact that reading can have on a child's cognitive development and leverages the enthusiasm of older students to instill a passion for reading in their younger counterparts. Under the programme, secondary school students assume the role of mentors, guiding and reading to younger children in a small group setting.

Beyond the educational benefits, the initiative also aims to create a sense of community and connection among students of different age groups. Through the shared joy of storytelling, these young buddies not only enhance their reading abilities but also develop empathy, patience, and a sense of responsibility towards their peers. It is not merely a reading initiative; it's a community-building endeavor that plants the seeds of empathy and a lifelong love for learning in the hearts of the young minds involved.
