Home Based Learning
Home Based Learning, Remote Learning, Long Distance Learning - these are terms with a common objective : for students to learn at their own pace with asynchronous or synchronous learning, away from school. Due to students being unable to attend school for variety of reasons, learning at home or away from school has been a necessity for teaching and learning to take place anywhere at any time.
When there are natural disasters, a pandemic or some other unforeseen circumstances, learning cannot come to a standstill. There has to be ways where educators can reach out to students so that teaching and learning can go on.
How do we make learning away from school effective? How do teachers monitor students' work when they are not in school and assignments have to be given as online tasks?
We also often heard the phrase home based learning but what about home based teaching? When a teacher is unable to be in class, often a relief teacher is deployed. With situations such as a 2-week LOA (Leave of Absence), it could be challenging to leave school for a long period.
Now, with a full Home Based Learning, the challenges become even more intense, with a steep learning curve both for students and teachers as well, and not forgetting parents too. There is a silver lining behind all these. We will conquer these challenges together and become even stronger - in terms of how we approach a modern way of T & L, and looking at digital revolution.
In Admiralty Primary School, we are fortunate to have everyone in the school who offer support and encouraging each other in these challenging times. This site is created in the hope that it would offer the help that teachers in Admiralty Primary School find useful in facing the HBL journey together.
