Communications

How do teachers communicate with parents and students?

Parents Gateway

Parents Gateway is developed by the Ministry of Education and GovTech as a one-stop portal that strengthens school-home partnership to support students in their education journey. Parents Gateway is the main mode of communication between the school and parents. It is recommendable that parents check if the app on their mobile phones are updated and push notifications be enabled in order for parents to be able to receive messages and forms from the school.

Teachers can go to the link below to send e-consent forms, post announcements and include groups of teachers to monitor responses from parents.

To access Parents Gateway and create posts, teachers will need to use a laptop instead of a mobile phone.

Class Dojo

Class Dojo is a school communication platform that teachers, students and families use to build close-knit communities by sharing what is being learned in the classroom home through photos, videos, and messages. One of the benefits is the use of Class Story where teachers can post pictures or videos, attach documents and send messages to reach out to both parents and students to keep all updated of events happening within the class.

Class Dojo provides translation for the preferred choice of language which will ease the communication between teachers and parents. Parents can be engaged and connected in their children's learning through the portfolios where parents can comment to encourage the child in his or her learning process. Students can also respond to the teacher's comments in portfolios.

With "Classroom" feature in Class Dojo, teachers and students build their classroom culture. They choose skills and values – things like creativity or teamwork – and share feedback on progress with each other. Classroom is the simplest way for teachers and students to build an incredible classroom culture together and work towards character-building.

As an alternative mode of communication, other than Whatsapp, it is worth considering Class Dojo to create a positive classroom culture and keep parents as well as students connected. Admiralty Primary School's Class Dojo mentors, Mdm Sanisah & Ms Amanda Ang, help to keep the Admiralty Primary Class Dojo community together.

Seesaw

ICT Bite-sized sharing - Seesaw.pptx

Seesaw is a digital platform that allows students, teachers, and parents or guardians to share classroom work. Students can use a variety of media, from photos and videos to drawings, text, links, and PDFs. Students' work can be seen and appraised by teachers. One way for teachers to communicate with students is by assigning their index number to their names upon uploading students' info in Seesaw. Teachers can then check by a glance from the index number shown to see who have read the message sent by the teachers.
