Tool tags · How to read them

Each tool in this library carries one or more tags. Here's what they mean.

Before you open any KAT detail page, it helps to know how the tool list is labelled. Tags appear next to each tool's name and tell you, at a glance, whether you can use it freely, whether it needs school approval, and whether it needs classroom routines before students touch it.

 MOE

MOE-permitted & SLS-native

Built into SLS or on MOE's approved tools list. Safe for direct classroom use.

Free

Free to use

No subscription needed. Always check current school approval before introducing to students.

Norms

Dual-use — needs classroom norms

Powerful, but can be misused without rules. Set up student usage routines before first use.

VPN

Requires school VPN

Works at school without VPN. From home or anywhere off-campus, requires VPN login on an MOE device.
