Designing and scaffolding a virtual Geographical Investigation (GI):
Studying features and management of Sungei Buloh and Chek Jawa mangroves through virtual guided tours.
a. Use of Design Map for an overview planning of an e-ped unit of learning.
b. Value of Design Map and PDLP in providing a seamless Blended Learning experience for students.
The sharing focuses on how Geographical Investigation (GI) on the topic of mangroves was carried out virtually for the secondary 1 students.
GI is positioned as a key component in the learning of Geography where students participate collaboratively to investigate an authentic geographical phenomenon/issue through an inquiry process.
With the shift to 'virtual' fieldwork, the sharing looks at how the design map was used to plan and design the different activities and tasks at different stages of inquiry.
Leveraging on technology in providing a seamless BL experience, the sharing also focuses on various tools and strategies used to scaffold students' learning and collaboration with each other.
Analyse data meaningfully and systematically using thinking routine.
Students would be able to make evidence based conclusion. (in response to their GI and data analysis)
Collaborate with group members virtually at different phases of their GI and respond to the GI question.
