All School Meeting
Mrs. LeFrancois and Ms. DesRoches' fourth graders lead the All School Meeting on Friday! They helped build community by teaching the RES students how to sign the Vermont State Song in American Sign Language on its (the songs) anniversary! Hopefully students continue this tradition for years to come!
Golden Apple Award
Our amazing volunteer, Ms. Paula, was honored with the Golden Apple Award! Students attended the celebration to show their love, appreciation, and support for Ms. Paula as she received this well-deserved recognition.

Preschool Forest Clean-up!
Families from our preschool community came together on a Saturday for a meaningful day of work and connection in the community forest. With helping hands of all sizes, families completed several projects to help care for and improve the space our children explore and enjoy throughout the year. We are so grateful to everyone who volunteered their time and energy to make the day such a success!
Bubbles, Chemistry & 3D Design in Enrichment
In Enrichment the 3rd Grade and the 3/4 Multiage classes used Tinkercad (a kid friendly version of the 3D design software AutoCAD) to design bubble wands. Mr. Langevin, one of our district's Digital Learning Leaders, 3D printed them for us. We made our own bubble solution, getting a bonus chemistry lesson out of the experience to. We had a blast taking our wands out for a test drive.
Calling All Trader Joe’s Bags!
The Enrichment class is looking for clean paper Trader Joe’s bags for an upcoming project. If your family has any to spare, we would greatly appreciate donations!
Bags can be sent in with students anytime over the next few weeks. Thank you for your support!
4th Graders Visit Spanish Immersion Kindergarten
Our 4th graders recently had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Kindergarten Spanish Immersion classroom for a special reading time together. The older students proudly shared stories and practiced their reading skills, while the kindergarteners listened with excitement and curiosity. It was a joyful experience that built confidence, encouraged leadership, and strengthened connections across grade levels. We are so proud of our students for creating such a caring and supportive learning community!
Hatching Baby Chicks!
Last week, the third grade and 3/4 classrooms had an unforgettable hands-on science experience as they incubated eggs in their classrooms and watched baby chicks hatch before their eyes.
When the chicks finally began to hatch, the classrooms were filled with amazement and joy as students witnessed the incredible process firsthand. This engaging project brought science to life while encouraging curiosity, teamwork, and responsibility.
Interview with Xavi Valdez
Mrs. LeFrancois and Ms. DesRoches' fourth graders interviewed Xavi Valdez for their Sports and Society Literacy Unit. Xavi played for the Women's Mexican National Soccer Team, and has created a soccer club in San Diego California. Xavi's message was an inspiration and one of inclusivity and kindness.
Monday May 11th we will start biking in PE at Brown's Court Field. There is a really nice flat paved dead-end road that's perfect for learning to ride a bike. I'll put some jumps onto the grass field for kids who want to challenge their skills.
Attached an aerial map of Brown's Court Field. As you leave RES going towards town, take your 2nd right onto Brown's Court and a few hundred feet down the road you will see a large field. There will be a large Red Trailer that will be used to store all the school bikes and helmets.
Feel free to leave your child's bike at Brown's Court for them to ride during PE. Here is the Master PE Schedule. I highly recommend that kids bring in their own helmets. I have plenty of extra bikes and helmets for kids to use, no worries if you can't send one in.
We will bike until Wednesday June 3rd. Mr. G could use some volunteers to help during the biking unit. I'm happy to take the lead on all the biking stuff but a few extra eyes out there would be helpful. Please let me know if you might be available during your child's PE class to volunteer? Thanks

Track is Back!
The Mt. Mansfield Summer Track Program returns for our 32nd year. We are a program open to all athletes from beginners to those looking to specialize in certain events. Athletes will practice and compete based on age groups from 5-6 years old up to the 13-15 age group. It is a great way for younger kids to learn a new sport and helps the middle school athletes prepare for high school. Practices are Monday and Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 at the MMU track. The program starts on Wednesday, June 17th and wraps up on Wednesday, July 15. We have 2-3 meets with other teams from Chittenden County and there is the option of competing at the Vermont Recreation and Parks state meet at the end of the season. Registration is $40 for the first child in a family, $30 for the second, and $20 for each additional child and includes a team t-shirt. The program is run by Mt. Mansfield Track Coach Bill Eschholz and members of the 2025 MMU Track Team. For additional information or to request a registration form please email Bill Eschholz at MMSTXC@gmail.com.

Food Service
For the 2025-2026 school year, school meals will continue to be free. Even though there is no charge for snack and lunch, we encourage you to fill out this application for free and reduced-price school meals. If many families fill out and return this form, we will get more money from the federal government for free school meals now and in the future. We will also get more money for other school programs. Filling out this form also helps our community provide free summer meals to all kids, and free meals to kids in childcare. HERE is additional information outlining food service, free and reduced lunch, and common questions asked.
