First Grade Leads Our Gratitude Gathering
First Grade Students at RES hosted an amazing All School Meeting focused on Gratitude the Friday before Thanksgiving Break! The students worked hard to prepare and everyone participated in some way. Some students recorded a read aloud of the The Thankful Book by Todd Parr while others hosted the All School Meeting. The hosts welcomed the whole school and led activities like the Turkey Greeting and mindfulness! Afterwards students wrote down things they feel grateful for on paper leaves and we created a display in our lobby!
What's New
With the unexpected "cold" day canceling school on Friday, we have been able to adjust our school schedule and will host the Used Book Sale on Monday, December 8th! Make sure your student's bring in their quarters tomorrow, and if you happen to miss this message no worries, we've got you covered. We make sure all student's will be able to shop for books that excite them during this event :-)
4th Graders Welcome Their New Reading Buddies
Our 4th graders were excited to meet their 2nd grade reading buddies for the first time this week. The pairs spent time getting to know one another, sharing favorite books, and settling in for some cozy reading together. The room was filled with smiles as older students took on leadership roles and younger students enjoyed the extra attention. It was a great start to a partnership that will support confidence, connection, and a love of reading throughout the year.
RES Winter Holiday Wishlists
If you winter celebrations include gift giving for the RES teachers and staff, the PTO would like to invite you to check out the wishlists for this year. You can find them HERE.
Whether it's with a gift, note, or simply in your thoughts, please consider taking a moment this season to notice your gratitude for the people who help support the kids in our community. At the wishlist link you'll find all the names of the teachers and staff at RES this year. We're so thankful to be in this together.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to give back to the educators and staff at RES this season.
How to Use the List: Find the name of the person you'd like to buy a gift for. If they have added items to the wishlist, clicking on their name will take you to their list. If they have an Amazon or other wishlist set up you can buy things from that site. Otherwise items may be listed that they don't mind having multiples of and you can purchase locally or however works best for you. We'll keep adding wishlist items as we receive them, feel free to check back during the season.
Please arrange to have items delivered to school before Friday, December 19th if possible, as Tuesday, December 23rd is the last day of school before winter break. Items can be shipped to:
Teacher's Name 125 School St Richmond, VT 05477
Recently Principal Rector joined Señora Donovan’s third and fourth grade Spanish immersion morning meeting! This time is designed to connect as a class community, start the day on a positive note, and support social-emotional learning. Each morning, a student leader reads the “message of the day,” and then the class goes around the circle to greet each other and answer a question—all in Spanish! Mr. Rector bravely joined in, modeling wonderful risk-taking, and the class was kind, cooperative, and supportive.

RES PTO
What's the next phase for the RES PTO? Do you have an idea or would you like to join in on the conversation?
At the next meeting, we hope to set up roles and structure for the 2025-26 school year, and a pattern for those procedures in the future. We want to hear from the community and school staff (through a future survey) about what the needs are and how we can help. Do you have a skill you can offer to enrich the RES community and PTO connection?
The PTO is working to host a hybrid meeting, where there will be an option for folks to gather in person. Stay tuned for more info, as well as the date and time of our meeting!
