RES honors Lunch Hero Day
RES came together to celebrate Lunch Hero Day! Each day, these dedicated staff members go above and beyond to ensure our students are well-fed and cared for. From early mornings spent preparing nutritious meals to greeting every child with a warm smile, their efforts help create a positive and welcoming environment in our school.
Lunch Hero Day was an opportunity for our community to pause and show appreciation for the people who keep our cafeteria running smoothly. Their hard work often happens behind the scenes, but its impact is felt in every classroom, every afternoon of learning, and every student who leaves the cafeteria ready to succeed. From everyone in the RES community, THANK YOU, Chef Danielle, Taylor & Michelle!
What's New
Grade 3's Fairy Tale Celebration
As we wrapped up our third ELA unit, Traditional Tales & World Cultures, students wrote their own version of a traditional (fairy) tale and created illustrations to go along with it. This week, we shared these stories with one another and our families to celebrate the learning and growth that has happened for the last three months.
Special Visitor in Kindergarten Spanish
Our Kindergarten Spanish class had a very special visitor this week—Winnie! With our furry guest in attendance, our pretend veterinary station suddenly felt very real. Students practiced their Spanish vocabulary as they “examined” and cared for Winnie, using words for body parts, emotions, and basic commands. It was a fun and memorable way to bring language learning to life while building empathy and confidence. ¡Gracias, Winnie, por visitarnos!
4th Grade Drum Circle
Mrs. LeFrancois’ class brought energy and creativity to the music room this week with an engaging drum circle! Ms.Coorigan had students explore rhythm, teamwork, and self-expression. The activity encouraged collaboration and confidence, with everyone contributing their own unique sound to the group. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm as students discovered the joy of making music together!
2nd Grade Spanish Immersion Cultural Exchange
Professor Criss's 2nd grade class had a blast kicking off their cultural exchange project! Enjoy these photos from our first session with Cervantes/José Eustasio Rivera Elementary School in Colombia.
Monday May 11th we will start biking in PE at Brown's Court Field. There is a really nice flat paved dead-end road that's perfect for learning to ride a bike. I'll put some jumps onto the grass field for kids who want to challenge their skills.
Attached an aerial map of Brown's Court Field. As you leave RES going towards town, take your 2nd right onto Brown's Court and a few hundred feet down the road you will see a large field. There will be a large Red Trailer that will be used to store all the school bikes and helmets.
Feel free to leave your child's bike at Brown's Court for them to ride during PE. Here is the Master PE Schedule. I highly recommend that kids bring in their own helmets. I have plenty of extra bikes and helmets for kids to use, no worries if you can't send one in.
We will bike until Wednesday June 3rd. Mr. G could use some volunteers to help during the biking unit. I'm happy to take the lead on all the biking stuff but a few extra eyes out there would be helpful. Please let me know if you might be available during your child's PE class to volunteer? Thanks
IT'S HERE!!
The 2026 - 2027 School Calendar is officially out! You can find the link below. Important dates to note are on the right.

Track is Back!
The Mt. Mansfield Summer Track Program returns for our 32nd year. We are a program open to all athletes from beginners to those looking to specialize in certain events. Athletes will practice and compete based on age groups from 5-6 years old up to the 13-15 age group. It is a great way for younger kids to learn a new sport and helps the middle school athletes prepare for high school. Practices are Monday and Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 at the MMU track. The program starts on Wednesday, June 17th and wraps up on Wednesday, July 15. We have 2-3 meets with other teams from Chittenden County and there is the option of competing at the Vermont Recreation and Parks state meet at the end of the season. Registration is $40 for the first child in a family, $30 for the second, and $20 for each additional child and includes a team t-shirt. The program is run by Mt. Mansfield Track Coach Bill Eschholz and members of the 2025 MMU Track Team. For additional information or to request a registration form please email Bill Eschholz at MMSTXC@gmail.com.
Bus Transportation
Below is transportation information for the upcoming school year. Please contact the Bus Garage with any questions you may have. They can be reached at 802-899-4840 or transportation@mmuusd.org.
Food Service
For the 2025-2026 school year, school meals will continue to be free. Even though there is no charge for snack and lunch, we encourage you to fill out this application for free and reduced-price school meals. If many families fill out and return this form, we will get more money from the federal government for free school meals now and in the future. We will also get more money for other school programs. Filling out this form also helps our community provide free summer meals to all kids, and free meals to kids in childcare. HERE is additional information outlining food service, free and reduced lunch, and common questions asked.
