STEAM Night Success!!
The 4th Annual RES Family STEAM Night was the best one yet! It was a wonderful event full of great food and families learning together from local experts in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and math! The turn out was amazing. We served 300 plates of food! It wouldn't have been possible without the fabulous faculty who volunteered their time to set up, greet, serve food and clean up. A huge thank you to the custodial crew and the staff of our afterschool programs for their flexibility and willingness to help, and of course a huge amount of gratitude to our community partners for facilitating the engaging demonstrations and activities! They are in no particular order: Four Winds Nature Institute, Camels Hump Backcountry Rescue, NBC 5 Meteorologist Marissa Vigevani, Wild at heART’s Lisa Bressler, Rebecca Monty, Mrs. Wood, SPARK’s Darcie Rankin, Lauren Weir and VT Chapter of Women in Construction, UVM STEM Ambassadors, Molly Hall from Raidate, the MMU High School Robotics Club, Vermont Audubon, Matt Nolin & Amy Redburn and Chef Danielle.
What's New
Spanish Immersion Reading Buddies
As part of the Spanish Immersion Program, fourth-grade students take on the responsibility of reading to kindergarten Spanish immersion students to help foster and celebrate biliteracy.
Celebrating “I Am From” Stories
Mrs. LeFrancois and Ms. DesRoches’ classes came together for a meaningful celebration of their “I Am From” poems. Each student shared a piece of their story, reflecting on the people, places, and experiences that have shaped who they are. As they prepare to head to middle school, these poems serve as a powerful reminder of their identities and where they come from. It was a special moment of connection, pride, and reflection for everyone involved.
Farewell to Abby O'Neil
It is with a very heavy heart that I will be saying good bye to RES on April 17th. RES has been a part of my life since 2007, when my oldest started Kindergarten here. I am sitting here in the office struggling with what to say - I am so very sad to leave the amazing humans that work here and the amazing students who show up every day to learn. While I am incredibly sad to leave, I am also excited at what my future holds. My husband and I moved to Westford from Richmond 2 years ago to our dream property allowing us to grow a small sugaring operation in Westford. We now want to grow our farm, which means I need more time at home to bake our products. This summer, I will be at many Farmer's Markets selling our syrup and lots of baked goods. I will even be at the Richmond Farmer's Market every other Friday this summer so am hopeful to see many of you there. I have truly loved every minute of my time here at RES. I have loved getting to know all of our families and students and will miss this community. I have loved cheering on our students and our staff members. RES has been my family for years and will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you! 💜
Abby's last day with us at RES will be Friday, April 17th, although she will be helping out here and there through the remainder of this scool here. And with that, we welcome Jennifer Sutton, who will be starting for us April 13th to allow for a supportive and fluid transition!
Dear RES Community,
I am so excited to introduce myself as the newest administrative assistant at RES. With 19 years of experience working in education, I have had the privilege of supporting students, families, and staff in a variety of roles. One of the highlights of my career has been serving as a coach for the Special Olympics, an experience that deeply shaped my commitment to inclusion, teamwork, and celebrating every individual’s strengths.
Most recently, I worked at Mount Mansfield Union High School as a Youth Employment Specialist. As a parent of a first grader here at RES, I have already experienced firsthand what a truly special place this is. It is an honor to now join this community in a professional role.
Outside of school, I enjoy cooking, crafting, gardening, renovating our 1800s farmhouse and spending time with my family at our land in Nova Scotia. These activities bring me joy and help me stay grounded and connected within the community.
I look forward to getting to know all of you and supporting our school community. Please feel free to reach out or say hello, I’d love to meet you.
Warmly,
Jenn Sutton

It is hard to believe, but soon we will begin planning for next school year! we want to share a bit about our student placement process. Our team—classroom teachers, specialists, support staff, and administrators—works thoughtfully to create balanced, supportive learning environments for every child.
Family input is an important part of this process. If you would like to share insights about your child as a learner, please consider completing this optional My Child as a Learner form by April 10th (one per student). While we value your input, final placement decisions are made by the school team, as we consider many factors to best support all students.
Thank you for your partnership and trust in this process. Please reach out if you have any questions or need support completing the form.
