Greetings RES Students, Families, and Caregivers, welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!
I hope you all have enjoyed a restful and healthy summer. On behalf of all of the educators at Richmond Elementary School, we are thrilled to welcome young learners back to campus for a school year full of learning, community, joy, and celebration!
For those who don't know me, here is a little bit about myself: I live in Underhill with my wife, three kids, and our dog, Koda. This will be my seventh year serving as Principal of Richmond Elementary School, and I feel graced working in this building and with this community every day. I am a native Vermonter, and I have lived in the area most of my life. I love the outdoors, and I can often be found with my family mountain biking, camping, snowboarding, or at one of the kids' sporting events.
Family collaboration is an essential component to student success at Richmond Elementary School, and we appreciate all the ways you contribute to the RES learning environment! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me, Principal Jeremy Rector, with any questions and/or concerns. For urgent matters, the best method to do so is by calling the Main Office at 802-434-2461.
Enjoy these next few days, we are excited to see you soon.
Jeremy Rector (he/him)
Principal
Richmond Elementary School
RES Daily Information
We will welcome students into the building beginning at 7:30am. The school day begins at 7:50am. Please be sure to leave enough time for traffic and other mishaps to get here. It is important your child arrives on time so they do not miss any learning opportunities and have time to settle into the day.
In order to support families who need to drop off their students before the classrooms open, the library will be open for early arrivals between 7:15 am and 7:30 am. This will be staffed by two support staff, and is intended to be a safety net for those who simply have to arrive before 7:30 am. Unfortunately, this early arrival time is not an option for our PreK students at this time, as we will not be in ratio to support PreK students within this time range.
Parent Drop Off
In order to support the flow of traffic and the arrival of all students, please use the loop in front of the building for a quick drop off, and a quick hug or kiss goodbye. You can exit the vehicle if you would like to watch your student enter the building, but please don't use the loop if you would like to come in the building.
If you are planning on entering the building, please park in the spots facing the highway. This is a space where you can comfortably leave your vehicle and not feel rushed. Thank you!
**If your student rides the bus and it arrives after 7:50am, they will not be marked tardy**
To best support students and families, their safety, and ensure that 100% of students are dismissed to the correct location 100% of the time, we have made a few adjustments to our dismissal procedure at RES for the 25-26 school year.
2:20pm: Preschool will be dismissed. PreK Teachers will dismiss directly to families.
2:30pm: Students attending Part 2 and Mr. G's Programs (Adventure, STEAM, Radiate & Audubon) will be dismissed.
2:33pm: Parent/Guardian Pick Ups & Walkers will be dismissed.
2:37pm - 2:45pm: Students will be dismissed to busses. We will have staff to direct students to the correct bus.
Parents/Guardians picking up their child may pull into the parking loop. We ask that you STAY in your car. Your student will come to you. We will have staff members around the loop to ensure your child makes it to you safely.
Unfortunately, we ask that students and families not stay on campus and utilize the Playground after school. This space is contracted out to our Afterschool partners.
Please do not arrive prior to 5 minutes before your student's dismissal time. This will help reduce traffic congestion.
We ask that changes to your child’s normal routine be made directly into Pickup Patrol (see below) no later than 1:30 in the day in order to minimize disruptions to classrooms.
Buses will be fully loaded by 2:50 p.m. and drop off times will vary depending on location.
Please be mindful of others, and we greatly appreciate your patience and support!
ATTENDANCE
Consistent and regular attendance is paramount to student development and success. On time arrival provides a student with the most positive start to the day. If your student will be absent or tardy, please be sure to enter the information PickUp Patrol by 8:00am. Our first priority is your child's safety. If the absence or tardy is not entered into PickUp Patrol by 8:30am the office will begin to contact families. Students are marked absent until they have checked in with the office.
**Information about PickUp Patrol will be sent out by the end of the week**

FOOD SERVICE
For the 2025-2026 school year, school meals will continue to be free. Even though there is no charge for snack and lunch, we encourage you to fill out this application for free and reduced-price school meals. If many families fill out and return this form, we will get more money from the federal government for free school meals now and in the future. We will also get more money for other school programs. Filling out this form also helps our community provide free summer meals to all kids, and free meals to kids in childcare. HERE is additional information outlining food service, free and reduced lunch, and common questions asked.
