Screencastify Video Export

Step 1

  • Open the video that you want to export in Screencastify

  • Ignore the "Copy Share Link" button at the top of the sidebar

  • At the bottom of the sidebar are two options for sharing the original video file

    • "Export Video" allows you to download the video file directly from Screencastify. We'll explore this option first.

    • "Google Drive" gives you options to share the video file from Google Drive. We'll explore this option in Step 3

Step 2

  • After clicking on "Export Video" at the bottom of the sidebar, you'll see different export options

  • Click on "Export as MP4", which will prompt a download of the video

    • The "Download File" option can be used, but it will save the video in WEBM format. MP4 format is more universal.

  • The MP4 file can be attached to an email to share

  • Alternatively, you can share the video file directly from Google Drive in Screencastify. We'll explore that option in the next steps.

Step 3

  • After clicking on "Google Drive" at the bottom of the sidebar, you'll see different sharing options

  • Click on "Copy Drive Link" to copy a direct link to the file in Google Drive, which can be pasted in an email

    • The video file can be downloaded from this link

  • Please note that anybody with this link can have access to the video file. If you would like to control access, then click on "View on Drive" and continue to the next steps

Step 4

  • After clicking on "View on Drive", a new tab will open that shows the video

  • Click on the three dot menu in the top right corner

  • Click on "Share" in the menu

  • A small window will open

Step 5

  • Enter in the email address for whomever you want to grant access to the video

  • Then click the "Done" button

  • They'll receive an email notification about the access
