OBS Studio Setup
OBS Studio is software that can be installed on the MJUSD provided Windows computer and can be used to stream to YouTube. Please submit a ticket in SchoolDude, if you need it installed on your computer. The following steps will show you how to configure OBS to stream to your YouTube channel, start the stream, and record the stream. The official documentation for this software can be found here.
Step 1
Open OBS Studio
If you have never configured OBS, then it should look like this screenshot
Step 2
Click on "File" in the top left corner of the window
Select "Settings" in the dropdown menu
Click on "Stream" in the left sidebar
Click on the "Service" menu
Select "YouTube / YouTube Gaming"
If you don't see the YouTube option, then click on "Show All..." and then scroll down to "YouTube / YouTube Gaming"
Paste your YouTube Stream Key in the "Stream Key" text field

Click the "OK" button in the bottom right corner
Step 3
There are two areas that are used to configure your video and audio stream; "Scene" and "Sources" in the bottom left corner of the main OBS window
"Sources" are any audio or video source to show on a stream (i.e. a webcam, a microphone, a monitor display, an image, etc)
"Scenes" are a pre-configured collection of "Sources" that can be quickly changed to live (i.e. the webcam and microphone, the monitor display and microphone, etc)
Click the "+" icon under "Sources" to add a video or audio source

Click the "+" icon under "Sources" to add a video or audio source
In the popup menu, select "Display Capture"
In the popup window, either keep the suggested title for the device or name it something memorable
Click the "OK" button in the bottom right corner
Step 5
Click on the "Display" dropdown menu
Select the display is the projector connected to the computer
If you are unsure which display in the menu is the projector, select them one at a time until the image is the same as the projector
Click the "OK" button in the bottom right corner
Step 6
In the popup menu, select "Video Capture Device"
In the popup window, either keep the suggested title for the device or name it something memorable
Click the "OK" button in the bottom right corner
Step 7
If you have multiple webcams, then click the "Device" dropdown menu and select which webcam you want to add to the stream
You can keep the default settings for the device or configure it differently, if you see a need
Click the "OK" button in the bottom right corner
Step 8
The top section of OBS Studio will now show the added video sources. Each source will have a colored outline around it, and can be moved and resized.
Click and hold in the center of the webcam box
Move it to the bottom right corner of the stream display
It will snap to the corner
Click and hold the top left corner of the webcam box
Move towards the bottom right corner to shrink the webcam image
Step 9
Click the "Start Recording" and "Start Streaming" buttons near the bottom right corner of OBS
Congratulations!!! You are now live with a basic stream streaming configuration showing what is on the projector and the webcam
Optional Steps For Audio
Audio is automatically picked up with the default microphone on a laptop, as well as audio that is being played from the computer. The following steps are for adding an audio source, if your computer doesn't have a microphone or you prefer to use a different microphone.
Step 1
Click the "+" icon under "Sources" to add a video or audio source
In the popup menu, select "Audio Input Capture"
In the popup window, either keep the suggested title for the device or name it something memorable
Click the "OK" button in the bottom right corner
Step 2
Click the "Device" drop down menu
Select the external microphone device in the menu
Click the "OK" button in the bottom right corner
