D-2-6 : EXCHANGE STUDENT VISA
A person who wish to study in Korea on a full-time degree or exchange program for more than 90 days.
You should apply for D-2 visa in your country of residence or in the country where your home University is located in.
Please note that D-2 visa (including D-2-6 and D-2-8) is issued in single entry only and is valid for 3 months. Therefore, please apply for visa no more than 3 months prior to your entry date.
Please be informed that since each university has different academic schedules, the visa validity period is uniformly indicated according to the standard set by the Immigration Office. However, the actual visa validity period is calculated as 4 weeks after the final exam date.
Since academic schedules may vary each semester, students must refer to the Exchange student guide google site for the latest, accurate dates.
Once your visa is issued, it is valid for use, Should you choose to enter Korea earlier, the duration of stay issued may not cover you till the end of the program. You will need to visit the local immigration office in Korea to request for extension of stay.
Q2. I have just received my D-2 visa. I will be travelling to Korea for holiday for a few days and will be returning to my home country before going to Korea again for my exchange program. Will this have any implications on my D-2 visa?
Please note that your D-2 visa will be used upon your first entry into Korea and will be invalidated when you depart from Korea in the absence of a valid Registration Card. Should you wish to go ahead with the above planned itinerary, you will need to apply for D-2 visa again for your exchange program.
