Permission of Part-time Jobs
1. Academic Performance (GPA)
l Minimum Grade: An average GPA of C (2.0) or above from the immediately preceding semester.
l Attendance Requirement: An attendance rate of 70% or higher for the entire previous semester.
l For New Students (1st Semester): The GPA and Attendance requirements are waived for your first semester in Korea.
2. Language Proficiency Requirements
l Undergraduate (1st & 2nd Year)
TOPIK: Level 3 or higher/ KIIP: Level 3+ or Pre-assessment score 61+/ Sejong Institute (KLP): Intermediate Level 1+
l Undergraduate (3rd Year+) & Graduate School
TOPIK: Level 4 or higher/ KIIP: Level 4+ or Pre-assessment score 81+/ Sejong Institute (KLP): Intermediate Level 2+
l English track students
Scores: TOEFL iBT 71 (CBT 197), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, or NEW TEPS 327+
(Exempt for students from English-speaking countries)
*Requirement will be waived for students from countries where the mother tongue or official language is English.
*Language Certificate: You only need ONE valid certificate from the list.

How to Apply
1. Prepare Documents: Fill out the 'Part-time Work Confirmation Form' (Must be signed by both the student and the employer).
2. University Approval: Visit the Office of International Affairs with all required documents. Once your application is reviewed and approved, the office will provide the form with the University’s Official Stamp.
3. Final Report to Immigration: Submit the stamped confirmation form and other required documents to the Immigration Office.

In-person: Visit the competent Immigration Office (Visit reservation is mandatory).
4. Start Working: You MUST ONLY start working AFTER receiving the final approval from
the Immigration Office.
Restrictions on Hourly Part-time Jobs for International Students
1) Strictly Prohibited
l Adult Entertainment: Working at bars, salons, or any adult entertainment establishments
l Gambling & Speculation: Casinos, gambling venues, or mixed retail and game service businesses.
l Private Tutoring: Teaching languages or providing private lessons at home or private academies.
l Advanced Technology & Research: Working for high-tech industries or institutions where industrial secrets must be protected.
l Personal Services: Lodging, public bathhouses, barber shops, or beauty salons.
l Manufacturing & Construction
l Delivery Services
2) Internship for international students
l Internships in Specialized Fields: Full-time internships (40 hours per week) are only available during the vacation period.
l During the Semester: Internships are permitted only within the allowed part-time working hours (20–30 hours per week, depending on your language proficiency).
l If a student works as an intern to acquire credits and receives a certain amount as allowance by participating in a research project, or participates in a student scholarship at school, a separate permit is not required.
* Jobs are limited to those that can be performed as a student by social norms.
Workplace Changes & Restrictions
l New Permit Required: If you change your workplace or add a second job, you must apply for a new permit following the same steps as your first application (University Approval → Immigration Report).
l 15-Day Rule: Any changes (workplace address, business name, etc.) must be reported to the Immigration Office within 15 days of the change.
l Maximum Duration: Each permit is valid for up to 1 year (within your period of stay). If you wish to continue working after 1 year, you must apply for a renewal.
l Number of Workplaces: You are allowed to work at a maximum of 2 different workplaces at the same time.
l Total Hours: The combined working hours of both jobs must not exceed your permitted weekly limit.
Violation Treatment
1st violation: You will be prohibited from engaging in any part-time employment for one year.
2nd violation: You will be permanently prohibited from all part-time employment during your entire period of study in Korea.
3rd violation: Study Qualification (D-2 Visa) will be CANCELLED and you will be subject to Deportation.
*If a student does not report to the Immigration Office and any illegal hourly job activity is discovered, they will be subject to get fined.
