This week Skylark participated in an online workshop. The children were taken on an interactive journey with the Internet Owl, and helped him to teach all the animals in the Internet Jungle how to be kind online.
They then created their own Be Kind Online posters.
During this lesson, Skylark began to understand the importance of organising data effectively for counting and comparing. We then created own tally charts to organise data and represent the tally count as a total.
During STEM WEEK the children created algorithms using BeeBots. They ran their algorithm and then debugged any errors.
During this lesson , we learned about pictograms. We then created pictograms manually and then progressed to creating them using a computer. We understood the advantages of using computers rather than manual methods to create pictograms, and use this to answer simple questions.
During this lesson we thought about the importance of effective data collection. We then considered the benefits of different data collection methods and why, for example, we would use a pictogram to display the data collected.
In today's lesson Skylark thought about ways in which objects can be grouped by attribute. They then tallied objects using a common attribute and presented the data in the form of a pictogram. We answered questions based on our pictograms using mathematical vocabulary such as ‘more than’/’less than’ and ‘most’/’least’.
