The World Languages program at Millbrook High School helps students develop the ability to communicate in another language while learning about different cultures and perspectives from around the world. Through courses in languages such as Spanish and French, students build skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
World language classes focus on communication and cultural understanding. Students explore traditions, music, food, literature, and daily life in different countries while practicing how to use the language in real-life situations.
Students in world language courses may:
• practice speaking and understanding the language in class
• develop reading and writing skills in the target language
• learn about the culture and traditions of other countries
• participate in conversations and presentations
• explore global perspectives and cultural connections
Students who continue their language studies may also have the opportunity to earn the New York State Seal of Biliteracy, which recognizes graduates who demonstrate proficiency in two or more languages.
