The History program at Millbrook High School helps students understand how past events shape the world we live in today. Through a variety of courses, students explore important historical events, cultures, and ideas while developing skills in critical thinking, research, and analysis.
Students examine primary sources, historical documents, maps, and other evidence to better understand different perspectives and historical developments. Writing and discussion are also an important part of history courses, helping students learn how to support their ideas with evidence and communicate their thinking clearly.
Millbrook also offers several advanced and college-level history courses for students who want to challenge themselves academically and earn college credit while still in high school.
Across history courses, students may:
• analyze historical documents and sources
• explore major global and American events
• study political systems, governments, and societies
• develop historical arguments through writing
• connect past events to current issues and the modern world
The goal of the history program is to help students become informed citizens who understand the past and can think critically about the world around them.
