Warmup
Present your collection(s) to us!
Collection Interaction Time
Performative sharing!
Work for next week/closing thoughts
I can reflect on collecting as an artistic process.
I can examine the relationship between collecting and culture.
I can critically examine why I collect what I collect, what humans collect, and consider why that behavior is somewhat innate to human kind.
I can collaborate with peers to create a performative narrative in a virtual setting.
Did we guess right? Tell us about the inspiration behind what you made and the materials you used!
We are all ears.
What does it mean?
Working in a group, pick one object from each person's collection that the other members of the group really respond to. As a group, create a narrative that connects all of the selected objects.
Find a performative way to share the narrative with us.
If you made documentation of your collection, upload it to our archive page called "Collections" (there is already a slot with your name on it for you to fill on this page
Make a list of at least two artists whose work is about collecting/collected objects. Share an example of their work, something about their process, and something about their ideas/inspirations to this page
Search in your home for materials that you have multiples of (a dozen or more). They do not have to be identical but if they are that's fantastic! They may be 2-D or 3-D. The dozen or more that you collect should fit inside a quart sized ziplock bag.
examples that I know I have in my house: envelopes, toothpicks, q-tips, teabags
Repeat with a different object.
Find a poem from one of your favorite poets, or find a new favorite. Go outside your comfort zone and the "canon" -- introduce us to a new voice!
Find a poem by one of the following poets. Don't settle for the first one you read or stumble upon. Search... Find one that resonates with you.
Sharon Olds
Wendall Berry
Rumi
Share your two poems to this slideshow/flipbook.
Please consider whether you are interested in exploring printmaking processes that would require block printing ink, a brayer, etc. This is not required-- we can make prints with whatever you do have!
