I can unpack my learning and construct understandings about the role of learner, facilitator, and material in the studio classroom.
I can engage in purposeful play with materials.
I can collaborate with peers to generate a nuanced, layered and complex whole.
I can examine and analyze the interactions of my group to better understand the role of collaboration in the studio classroom.
Please contribute your notes/reflections/realizations/reactions to the Beal and Hafeli chapters HERE on this jamboard.
What can paper DO?
Papercraft (book)
A recommended source of inspiration about the possibilities of paper
Team members - BE MINDFUL of how ideas come about and evolve as you work. Document your process-- record your thinking and decision making. Answer the following questions as you work.
Idea generation - Where within the process are ideas coming from? How are ideas being transmitted and elaborated among the group?
Familiarity/knowledge - What role does prior knowledge and experience play in the process?
Choice of media - What materials are selected? How? When? Why?
Manipulation of media - What is being done to the materials? For what purpose?
Problems - What challenges are encountered? How are they resolved? With what effects on the overall piece?
Play - What role did the initial opportunity to play with materials solo have in your process?
Teamwork - Where is there divergent thinking among partners? Where is there consensus among partners? What are the contributions of each group member? What value does working in a group provide?
Implications for teaching - How would this type of group work on a very open-ended prompt look in the classroom? Consider different age groups. How would it be different if you added guided instruction or liberating constraints?
