End of Year Google Classroom


These suggestion include procedures on how to reuse your Google Classroom for next year and recommendations for organizing your Google Classroom folders.  

💡Suggestions that help you organize

Create a folder of Exemplary work. Copy any student work you wish to save to share with next year's  students.  You might organize your Exemplary folder to contain subfolders by project and assignment.

Copy Classrooms that you want to reuse.

Archive Google Classrooms that you are not using. Archiving a classroom helps keep a clean  Google Classroom list while allowing  you to access and restore classes if you need it. Click her for Archiving instructions

Get your Classroom folder in Google Drive organized. Have you looked in your Classroom folder recently? In your Google Drive you have a folder named Classroom. DO NOT DELETE this folder. This folder contains a folder for every classroom you are a teacher of and a folder for any classroom you have joined. You will also have folders for any classrooms you’ve Archived.  If you are up to the challenge, feel free to delete any folder which you are not using. Just DO  NOT DELETE THE MAIN CLASSROOM FOLDER FROM YOUR DRIVE. Google uses this folder to organize all your classroom folders. Since all your classroom folders are tucked away under this main folder, they’re out of sight. Feel free to ignore them.                  

Along with your Google folders you can also organize and clean up your Calendars. Have you looked at your calendars recently?  All assignment due dates will appear on the Classrooms calendar. Access your Google calendar and delete the calendar for those that belong to old and unused Google Classrooms. To delete a calendar, Go to your Google calendar, on the right side you’ll see My Calendars, click  on the X next to any calendar you wish to delete. This is also a suggestion if you don’t use calendar with your classrooms, feel free to ignore.

Creating  your Classrooms for next year

Copy your Google Classroom to create a new classroom for next year.  This is a quick way for getting your class up and running for next year. All your Topics and Assignments will be copied. The copied assignments will be in draft format ready for you to schedule.  TIME SAVER!

Archiving a Google Classroom

Archive your old Google Classrooms. This will prevent students from accessing the classroom. Click here for instructions. 


Delete Google Classrooms folder of student work

To declutter your Google Drive. Take a look at the Classroom folder in your Google Drive. This folder is a system folder. It contains all your Google Classrooms. Your Google Classroom folders contain all the student work that you assigned.  Never delete the folder named “Classroom” however you can delete the Google Classroom folders containing your students’ work. Note, once you delete a Google Classroom folder it will be placed in the trash folder for 30 days and then permanently deleted. 


Delete or hide Google Classroom Calendars

Declutter your Google Calendar. Delete or Hide your Google Classroom Calendars. 


On your Google Classroom Calendar click on the menu option. Select Hide from List to Hide.

To delete the Google Classroom calendar. Click on the Calendar menu as seen above.

 Click on Settings. Scroll down the page. Click Delete.
