Across two weeks, 100 Medina High School seniors were interviewed at random. They were asked who their favorite teacher was at MHS. The results showed a clear winner: Dr. Brantner. Twenty-four students said Dr. B was their favorite teacher, followed by Mr. Mozingo in second place with six votes, and Mrs. Brooks and Mrs. Wilson tied for third place with five votes each.
Medina High School Senior Alex Henry, shared her appreciation for Dr. B. She said he was her favorite teacher because “he is such a funny guy who makes class interesting. He is always supportive and goes out of his way to say hello.”
Dr. B was asked what he thought about being the consensus favorite teacher among MHS Seniors. Dr. B, a teacher in the science department, said that he holds students at MHS in the highest regard and was incredibly honored to be nominated as the favorite teacher. He offered the following advice to seniors as they look forward to graduating in May: “give yourself time to THINK before making any decision in life. THINK of how to treat others, and how to go out in the world and do good.” Above all, Dr. B exemplifies what being a great teacher is. He strives to teach kids how valuable it is to be passionate about what they do.
Although Dr. B won this convincingly, some seniors wanted to express their opinions on other teachers as well. Senior Erik Shimko enjoyed his time in physics with Mr. Smith. Erik remembered how fun his class was because “Mr. Smith always shows how physics is demonstrated in the real world.”
Another senior, Sarah Holdridge, said writing teacher Mr. Thompson was her favorite. In her time in his class, Sarah found Mr. Thompson to be a funny and relaxed teacher who has developed a welcoming work environment.
The Medinamite would like to thank the 100 seniors who participated in this poll and formally congratulate Dr. B for being named Medina senior’s favorite teacher.
