JUNE 22 - FIRST ENVIRONMENT FAIR OLIVAR II SCHOOL
On the last day of the 21-22 school year different pupils from different grades organized the "First Environment Fair of Olivar II School".
Sustainable electric games, wind minicars, posters of environmental global problems, macroinvertebrates and freshwater quality and genetic studies with Drosophila were some of the expositions. Our pupils had an active role in explaining their work and investigations.

MAY 22 - ASSESSING FRESHWATER QUALITY - TUEJAR RIVER (TUEJAR)
This was our first sample collection. We moved to Tuejar River (60 km far from Alaquas) carrying all the equipment needed to collect samples and analyse the chemical parameters of the water.
We collected and classified different kinds of macroinvertebrates. We measured the chemical parameters of the water as pH, temperature, nitrates and dissolved oxygen. We also observed riverside vegetation assessing its connectivity, continuity and structure.
Finally, and using all the data, we applied a Quality Index of Rivers. We obtained a value that allowed us to classify the riverquality status of Tuejar River.

MARCH 22 - PARAINEN SCHOOL (FINLAND) ACTIVITIES
ErasmusElokuva5.mp4Finnish students developed different kinds of activities, all related to the topic of the environment such as textile recycling workshops, visiting the recycling center of Kahmari, Eureka the Finnish science center, Fazer company, etc..
DECEMBER 21 - WORKSHOP - LEARNING HOW TO ASSESS FRESHWATER QUALITY - TURIA RIVER (VILLAMARXANT)
Guided by some experts of Limne (a non-profit NGO related to the field of rivers), on December the 13th, we visited Turia River in Villamarxant. We learnt some interesting techniques we will need to assess freshwater quality as a field of our project. Some of them were:
How to measure chemical parameters of the water like oxygen, nitrates, etc.
How to capture macroinvertebrates, how to classify them and their role as water quality indicators.
How to evaluate other aspects like riverbank, surroundings...
It was a nice activity that will allow us to evaluate in a near future the freshwater quality of another river.
