Open only to students who have completed Piano 2 and 3, Piano 4 allows students to focus their continued study of piano in the direction of their choice. Many students choose to take this course concurrently with AP Music Theory, or while serving as a teacher assistant in Piano 1.
Official Course Description -- Piano HS 4A/B (ART2074)

Students with an exceptionally high interest, ability, and preparation in piano will have the opportunity to create, perform, and respond to piano music in a variety of styles/genres. Students receive ample opportunity to work and progress individually through advanced music, and are encouraged to learn and develop advanced piano skills, including augmented and diminished chords; major, minor, and blues scales; and advanced keyboard technique. Cultural, historical, personal, and social contexts are studied as they relate to piano repertoire. Opportunities for community performance are shared and encouraged throughout the year.
Prerequisite: Piano 3 A/B

This is an Advanced-Level (AL) course which counts towards the MCPS Certificate of Merit (CM)
