Official Course Description -- Guitar HS 4A/B (ART2081)
0.5 credit per semester
Students with an exceptionally high interest, ability, and preparation in guitar will have the opportunity to create, perform, and respond to guitar music in a variety of styles/genres. Students have ample opportunity to work and progress individually through advanced music, and are encouraged to learn and develop advanced guitar skills, including augmented and diminished chords; major, minor, and blues scales in all positions; and advanced strumming, picking, finger style, and soloing technique. Cultural, historical, personal, and social contexts are studied as they relate to guitar repertoire. Opportunities for community performance are shared and encouraged throughout the year.
Prerequisite: Guitar 3 A/B
Grade Level: 11 - 12
Cannot be repeated for additional credit
This is an Advanced-Level (AL) course which counts towards the MCPS Certificate of Merit (CM)
