What is Dual Enrollment?
This is a partnership between MCPS and Montgomery College (MC). It provides enriching programs and pathways for college-ready high school students to take MC courses in high school at NO COST

FALL 2024 class registration for Jump Start to College
starts April 29th!
GREAT NEWS!
ENGL101/011 - Introduction to College Writing and Support will be offered at
our school site for FALL 2024.
The class will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M.
Important Dates for JSC for 2024:
March 25: 7-week classes begin
March 18: Class schedule available for viewing for summer 2024
April 1: Registration BEGINS for summer 2024
April 8: Class schedule available for viewing for fall 2024
April 29: Registration BEGINS for fall 2024
May 17: Official end of spring semester
May 28: Summer session I classes begin
June 7: Priority registration for JSC ENDS for Fall 2024
July 8: Summer session II classes begin
August 16: Official end of summer sessions
September 3: Fall semester classes begin
December 22: Official end of fall semester

Summer college courses are not finacially covered. However, financial assistance is available through an MC High School Grant.
FAQs about Jump Start to College
Who is eligible to participate in JSC?
Everyone is able to participate if they meet the requirements. Seniors with a cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.5. All other students need a cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.75.
Do students need test scores to particpate in ?
Students will need qualifying tests scores:
SAT: 480 on the Evidenced-Based Reading and Writing to take most entry-level classes.
SAT: 530 on the Math section in addition to having a 480 on the Evidence base Reading and Writing to take entry-level math classes
ACT: 21 on the Reading section to take most entry-level classes
ACT: 21 on the Math section in addition to having 21 on the ACT Reading to take entry-level math classes
ACCUPLACER qualifying placements
If you do not have scores, it is okay. Montgomery College provides English and Math Remote Guided Placement Tests.
WHere will classes be held?
Classes are offered IN PERSON at all three Montgomery College campuses: Rockville, Germantown, and Takoma Park.
Classes are also offered VIRTUALLY through these formats:
Structured Remote Learning (SRL) format which are classes taken online at specific times
Distance Learning in which class is taught entirely online and students submit assignments on dates specified by the professor
Hybrid/Blended format which utilizes online and in-person teaching

Is transporation provided?
MCPS provides transportation for QOHS students to and from the MC Germantown Campus at a specific time of the day over the Fall, Winter, and Spring semesters (not over the summer sessions.)
Approximate Pick-Up Time at MC 1:57 PM and arriving to QOHS at 2: 15 PM.

If students are not able to ride the MCPS bus, students must provide their own transportation to and from campus. However, as an Montgomery College students, they can take Ride On buses for FREE as well.

What is the cost to apply & course Fees?
Starting Fall 2023, all Dual Enrollment Programs and Pathways will be offered at NO COST. Tuition, fees, and textbooks will be covered for the Fall, Winter, and Spring only. Summer classes are not covered. Students would have to pay fully to take summer classes but they can apply to the MC High School Grant to help pay for these costs.
All students may apply for a MC High School Grant to help cover the cost of MC fees and textbooks. Grant eligibility information is on the Grant Application website. Grant funds are limited and may run out.
