The basic idea of direct apply is that these employers WANT an intern, and they want you to submit an application directly to them. Please be sure to read the application instructions for any internship you apply to. Some internships may request a resume over email, some may request you apply online, some may have a special internship program application, etc. Please note that the "request to participate" button in Navigator button does not submit any sort of application to the employer. This button should only be used AFTER you have secured an internship at a particular site. Instead, follow the listed application instructions
There are 2 different ways that these employers are sourced. Your method of searching these opportunities will depend on where the employer came from.
Through BCC. Through either previous student interns or connections the school has made, this employer has reached out to BCC directly requesting that our students apply to intern with them. These employers are listed below, and are listed in Navigator with the naming scheme "BCC SY27 - ORG NAME HERE". Simply search "BCC SY27" to get an exhaustive list of these internships. If you use Navigator to search for these internships, step my step instructions are available here.
Through MCPS. MCPS has made a large push to increase enrollment in work based learning in recent years. As a part of this investment, MCPS has partnered with Worksource Montgomery to help source potential internships and jobs for students. Employers may also be looking for applicants countywide instead of just from BCC. These opportunities will appear in Navigator, but without "BCC SY27" in the name. Step by step instructions for searching in Navigator are available here.
An exhaustive list of employers who are interested in students reaching out directly will be added here by Feb 1.
