Thank you for your interest to be involved in our whole-school production of Mary Poppins!
Please read through all the information below carefully, and then you can apply to be part of one our crews using the Google Form below.
Please note that, unfortunately, we usually have far more people apply than we have jobs available for. Therefore, we ask that you only apply if you can fully commit to the dates listed for the crew you are applying.
You need to be available for ALL required rehearsals and performances listed below. This is the crew with the biggest commitment.
Required tasks and skills include:
Learning the set changes for the show (moving the set pieces on and off stage).
Preparing and checking all the props before, during and after the show.
Being very focused, as this job requires excellent timing and the ability to follow instructions accurately and quickly.
Being very aware of safety in the busy backstage environment.
Being able to be silent backstage!
Required dates:
TERM 2 rehearsals
Sunday 29 June, 1-5pm
Tuesday 1 July, 3:30-5:30pm
Thursday 3 July, 3:30-5:30pm
TERM 3 rehearsals and performances
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30-5:30pm (weeks 1 and 2)
Sunday 27 July and Sunday `3 August, 10am-5pm
Tuesday 5 August, daytime dress rehearsal (you will miss lessons this day)
Thursday 7 August, 6pm-approx 10:30pm, SHOW 1
Friday 8 August, 6pm-approx 10:30pm, SHOW 2
Saturday 9 August, 12noon-4:30pm, SHOW 3
Saturday 9 August, 6pm-11pm, SHOW 4
You need to be available for at least one of required working bees listed below.
Required tasks and skills include:
A bit of art skill. You will be painting, but you might be painting plain colours or, if more intricate patterns and designs for those that feel confident!
You might also be constructing objects or decorating found objects to help them look right to be props that fit the world of our show (1910 England)
Required dates:
Sunday 4 May, 11am-4pm (must attend a minimum of 2 hours)
Sunday 18 May, 11am-4pm (must attend a minimum of 2 hours)
Sunday 15 June, 11am-4pm (must attend a minimum of 2 hours)
So, you can attend all three working bees, or just one or two. But when you come to a working bee, you have to be there for at least 2 hours.
You need to be available for at least one of required working bees listed below.
AND
at least two of the rehearsal and performance dates
Required tasks and skills include:
A bit of sewing skill. You will helping adjust some hired costumes, or sometimes we might need you to make a very simple item (with instructions and help!)
You will help the cast with their costume fittings, then help label, organise and hang all costumes ready for performance!
For the dress rehearsal and performances, you will be backstage assisting with costume changes, costume organisation and costume tidy-up at the end of each show. If you have the skills, you might also help cast members with hair and makeup.
