AUDITION DATES/TIMES

Monday 16th, Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th November (Week 7)

3.30pm-6pm 

Mck Rd Campus - Alan Lawrence Theatre
You will book into a 10 minute group audition (5 people) in a slot between 3:30-6pm. 

***Please note - there will ONLY be a limited number of audition spots (150 spots to cast approx 55-60 people).
There are NO other audition dates or times available. 

Dance Call (Specialist Dance Ensemble Audition)

Monday 16th November, 3:30-4:15pm

You MUST book and attend this in full if you wish to be considered for the Dance Ensemble.

You must ALSO book and attend a group audition separately for your singing/acting audition. All dancers must also sing. 

Bring jazz or ballet shoes AND tap shoes if you have them.
Come prepared with 16 counts of tap to present (optional).

CALLBACKS FOR LEAD ROLES (by invitation only.)

Friday 20th November, 3.45pm-6pm
McK Rd Campus - Alan Lawrence Theatre

There will be a first rehearsal/cast meeting on Wednesday 2 December, 3:30-5:30pm. 

What and how to prepare for your audition is located below.

Rehearsals:

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:45-5:30pm at McK Rd Campus

Starting in Term 1, Week 4. See notes below regarding clashes with House Music or other Mck Ensemble commitments.  

Going throughout Term 2. 

and continue the first 2 weeks of Term 3. 

Sunday rehearsals:

There will be 5 Sunday rehearsals, 10am-5pm.

Term 2:
May 2nd (week 3)
May 16th (week 5)
June 6th (week 8)
June 20th (week 10)

Term 3:
Sunday 18th July - technical rehearsal

Performances/Production week

Thursday 22nd July - full daytime tech rehearsal during school
Tuesday 27th July - full daytime dress rehearsal during school (for local primary school audience)
Performances:
Thursday 29th July, 7pm
Friday 30th July, 7pm
Saturday 31st July, 1pm and 7pm

Required Commitment

Full commitment to all scheduled rehearsals and performances is expected.
Casting preference will be given to those who can commit to all rehearsals without any late arrivals or early departures.
More than two unexcused absences may result in a role reassignment or removal from the production.

For those who are managing other commitments, eg. House Music and Instrumental Ensembles, dance troupes, YABC, AGC, please read the following carefully:

You can arrive late OR leave early ONCE a week due to that commitment until Week 6 of Term 2.

From Week 7 of Term 2, everyone is expected to prioritise the show and stay for the whole rehearsal if they are required. 

You can miss ONE Sunday rehearsal for your other commitment, with at least 2 weeks notice provided. 

If you are away for more than the above agreed times, or do not give adequate notice, please note that you may not be able to be in particular scenes/songs due to your absence or may risk role reassignment. 

PLEASE ADVISE US OF YOUR KNOWN COMMITMENTS ON YOUR AUDITION FORM. 

Production Participation Fee

There is a one-off production fee for participants of $55. This will cover your show t-shirt and other production week consumables, eg. makeup wipes.

ALL MATERIALS AND LINKS REQUIRE YOU TO BE LOGGED ON WITH YOUR MCKINNON EMAIL.
(Parents, do this with your child on their Chromebook).

PRINT AND COMPLETE THIS AUDITION FORM AND BRING IT TO YOUR AUDITION

Please note that it needs a parent's signature, and you need to have reviewed all the rehearsal and performance dates. 

For your audition you must prepare all of the following: 
1. A song from the below choices to sing solo (1 minute max). You will bring in and play your own backing track on your phone, or sing with no accompaniment. Backing tracks are available below. You can print the lyrics and bring them in if you need them!

You should ACT your song, especially if you are going for a lead role. Show us your interpretation of the character through your singing.
2. Learn the small dance break below to perform as a group

• Click link to this folder, and you will find all the sheet music, vocal tracks and backing tracks for the songs below. (If your backing track is missing, it means we don't have it yet and you will sing along with the vocal track for your audition). 

• You only need to learn and sing ONE for your audition.
  Please learn the specified section of the song (pdf of sheet music in folder above). 

• Note that on the sheet music there is red writing/mark ups to show you where to start/stop.

LUNCHTIME PRACTICE SESSIONS

The following dates and times will be used to practice the audition dance and to review the key ensemble song and ensemble monologue. Those going for character roles are expected to be at a level where they can practice the material on their own.

CALLBACKS

These will be by invitation only, and you will receive an email by Friday morning at 9am if you are being invited for a role callback. You will not need to prepare anything.
Everyone will be notified whether or not they have been cast in the show by Friday 27th November evening at 6pm.
