RN-BSN Program
The MCCN RN-BSN Program follows a flexible due date policy. If the student is unable to meet an assignment deadline, an extension can be negotiated between the course faculty and the student in advance of the assignment due date. Extensions will not be granted after an assignment due date has passed or beyond the last day of a course.
The limit of student requests for due date extensions is one due date extension per assignment. If a student requests more than two due date extensions in a course, they will be required to meet with course faculty to discuss strategies for success before additional due date extensions will be granted.
There will be a 10% deduction for each day an assignment is late, whether the assignment is submitted after the scheduled due date or a negotiated due date extension. The 10% deduction per day applies to all days of the week, including weekends and holidays, and continues until zero points can be earned for the assignment.
Graduate & DNP Programs
The MCCN Graduate & DNP Programs follow a flexible due date policy. If the student is unable to meet an assignment deadline, an extension can be negotiated between the course faculty and the student in advance of the assignment due date. Extensions will not be granted after an assignment is due. If an extension is granted and the assignment is not turned in on the negotiated due date, the assignment will not be accepted, which will result in a grade of 0. If an extension is not requested and/or not granted, there will be a 10% deduction for each day the assignment is late (up to 30%). Late assignments will not be accepted after the third day, which will result in a grade of 0. There is no limitation to the number of extensions that a student can request throughout the course (only one extension per assignment), however, all course work must be completed by the end of the course or a student may not be able to progress in their program of study. If a student requests more than two extensions, they will be required to meet with course faculty to discuss strategies for success.
*NOTE: The flexible deadline policy does not pertain to standardized testing that originates from an outside organization due setup limitations (i.e. Fitzgerald Exams).
**NOTE: There is not a Flexible Due Date policy for undergraduate programs.
Late work, up to 3 days, will be accepted but will have a penalty attached. Ten percent (10%) will be deducted from an assignment’s total points for each day that the assignment is late. This includes holidays, weekends, and scheduled school breaks. If an assignment is not turned in within 3 days of the original due date, the student will not receive any points. Please note: There may be instances where late work is not accepted past the original due date. This will be communicated within the particular assignment expectations in Canvas. Within 24 hours of the original due date, the instructor must be notified that an assignment will be submitted late or the assignment will not be accepted, and no points will be awarded.
