I kind of felt useless in my first group because another group came over to help. So I swapped over to another group and helped them make an arch. It was fun to take the wire cutters and use the handle to bash dead birch trees so I could get the bark off. We used the bark to put it over the arch. This piece of land art is unique because it is the one and only arch in the show.
“Through the Looking Trees” celebrates the usage of the materials around us. I wanted people to notice that it was very sturdy and would last a while. To make this arch we took two long sticks and tied them to the other side of the two trees. Then we took smaller sticks and laid them out perpendicular to the other sticks. This made it look kind of like the ladder. After that we added some vines to make it more full and pretty.
We used sticks and wire and rocks. We used these materials because they were easy to find around our location. The project was really fun because the way we have used materials and used what we learned from different experiences really made this project fun. Our project celebrates what you can do with limited materials.
