Cardboard is a versatile material that is readily available. It comes in various thicknesses and can be corrugated or smooth. With a little ingenuity, a wealth of creations can be built from cardboard.
In the Innovation Station there is a board illustrating different ways to connect cardboard. This is helpful when it comes to structural integrity.
Wood is a good choice for strength and durability. The Innovation Station is supplied with a variety of wood "scraps" of different shapes and sizes, mostly rectangular prisms, rods, dowels, and small squares. Since wood can be difficult to cut, it may be best to find pieces the desired size. On the plus side, wood bonds tightly to other pieces with wood glue. Always glue wood before painting as the glue relies on penetrating the grain.
