Ice Hockey

Highlights

Matawan Regional High School participates in co-operative agreement with Howell High School for a co-ed Ice Hockey. Our team is supported and administered through RIHA, (Regional Ice Hockey Association) a 501c3 Non Profit Organization formed in 2008 to bring Ice Hockey to the six High School of the Freehold Regional High School District (Howell, Manalapan, Marlboro, Colts Neck, Freehold Boro and Freehold Township). This organization is comprised of parents and volunteers from all over the FRHSD and cooperative school districts who volunteer their time. Ice Hockey season runs from November to the end of February. The team practices 2-3 times week and plays it’s games at one of the local Black Bear rinks (Howell Ice Arena and Jersey Shore Arena). A Varsity and Junior Varsity team are fielded.

Ice Hockey is fully player funded activity. All costs associated with the program (ice time, coaches salaries, busing, insurance fees, referee fees, supplies and uniforms) are funded through either player tuition or fundraising.
