The second half belonged to Raritan with Mike Mallozzi coming up big a number of times in the net for the Huskies to keep it 1-0. After a phantom PK call, Raritan evened the game at 1-1.  It was back and forth and then with less than 10 minutes to go Marcelo took a shot from 25 yards out that hit off the GK hands and went in.  It was only justice, as the PK call should have never been made! An ugly win for the Huskies who now go on the road.

9/12 Matawan 1 Colts Neck 2

A dreary afternoon with steady drizzle did not keep both teams from battling hard all game. 11/3 Matawan (#13) 1 @ Bernards (#12)  0

For the past 2 years Matawan has traveled to Bernards and ended their season by losing 1-0 and on PK's.  The Huskies were looking to break the curse.

It was a battle right from the start. TJ took a shot that the GK got a hand on but it was not enough as the ball continued into the goal.

The second half was much of the same with limited opportunities. The team defense was very strong for Matawan and GK Chris Mallozzi blanked Bernards for the shut out.

9/28 S Shore 1 Matawan 0

The Huskies could not generate much offense and Shore managed a fluke goal off a clear that rebounded off a Shore player and traveled 18 yards in the air directly into the Matawan goal. Most of the game was played in between the 18 yard boxes and was not pretty by both teams.

A near miss by Griffin Hayward mid way through the second half went just wide of the goal.

9/12 @ Holmdel 0-5L

In a weeks time the Huskies had to face undefeated Holmdel (ranked #1 in th shore) for a 2nd and final time in the regular season. Some spirited preformances by the talented sophomore class including Gavin Klamm, Anthony Peters, Luke Zibbell, Ryan Leonard and Justin Sumner.

For most of the second half Holmdel controlled the game with a few flashes of brillance from the Huskies but it just was not enough. Holmdel scored the 3rd goal with about 4 minutes to go on a great individual effort from one of the best players in the shore.

.

9/27 Matawan 0 RBR 1 L @ RBR

An away game that was played at one of the most difficult places to play Red Bank Regional. A bumpy, uneven, patchy dirt field that was a game played between the 18 yard boxes. Missed traps, schanks out of bounds and shots not coming close to the net due to crazy bounces was how it looked. Matawan had a few chances near the end of regulation but could not finish.

The Huskies knew this would be a tough place to get a result and almost came away with a draw, but with 1 minute left in OT a ball bounced out to the top of the Huskies 18 yard box and the RBR player trapped it nicely and finished with a shot in the corner through a maze of players.

An outstanding defensive effort by the entire team and especially Matt Weisburg who was a force in the back.

 Matawan 0 Raritan 0 @ Raritan

In a game where Matawan could have clinched the A central Division Championship with a win, it was not their best performance of the season. A sign of a good team is to get a result when you are off your game, and that is exactly what they did with a tie @ Raritan.

There were limited chances for both teams but when a save was needed to be made Husky GK Ethan Goldenthal was there recording is 5th shut out of the season. Key defensive performances from Liam Nappi and Matthew Weisberg

From the first few seconds of the game the Huskies jumped all over Wall. With 2 early chances in the first minutes that included hitting the post, the tone was set and Wall was on their heals. The first half ended in a 0-0 draw but was controlled by Matawan even though they were against a stiff wind.

This was the first time in Matawan history they would make it to the quarter finals of the Shore Conference Tournament. The bad news is that is was against the #1 seed CBA on the Senior Day at CBA.

Although the Huskies gave it their all, it was not much of a contest over all. They allowed 3 goals in the first half and could never recover. It was not the best game Matawan could play but CBA is an extremely talented team and had something to do with the way the Huskies performed.

The second half was better for the Huskies but the final score of 4-0 was a fair result. On to the states!
