Oak        Learning Update

Central idea: People communicate to share knowledge and experiences with others.

This week we have started to look at our new Transdisciplinary theme - How we express ourselves.

Using the central idea as our starting point we looked closely at new vocabulary and what it meant to the class.

We thought about how our facial expressions communicate our feelings which led us into an extended discussion about emotions. Throughout the week we have developed our fine motor skills by cutting images of the colour monster to share current feelings / emotions as well as reflecting on moments that make us happy, sad, loved, calm, angry and scared.

Tommy said: "My Mum makes me happy."

Wilfred said: "Playing my video games makes me happy."

Fliss said: "When my Mummy hugs me I know she loves me."

Leonard said: "Sunbathing makes me feel relaxed and calm."

We have been impressed with every child's ability to reflect and we look forward to seeing this develop further this year.
