5Cedar  Learning Update

Central Idea: People with different beliefs may struggle for rights and freedoms.

In maths, we have been consolidating the learning that we have been doing on addition and subtraction.  The children have been thinking about the inverse relationship of addition and subtraction. They have been using their knowledge to work out missing number problems. We have also participated in a national times tables competition this week which they have been amazingly dedicated.

The children have concluded inquiry two which was looking into the infringements of human rights. The children have dived into thinking about human right infringements and researched into different organisations who campaign for human rights such UNICEF.

Reading 'The Boy at the Back of the Class', is about a refugee child from Syria. The children have loved reading this book and have enjoyed learning about Syria. This week the children painted the main character's rucksack with all the emotions he has carried on his refugee journey. The children also cooked Syrian pitta bread and listened to Syria music composed during the war. I have been very impressed with their cooking skills!
