3/4 Elm  Learning Update

Balance in our lives can promote health, well-being and contentment.

This week we have been continuing with our inquiry about how we can achieve balance, wellbeing and contentment in our lives. We have studied healthy, balanced diets and have progressed to discussing activities and actions we can take such as spending time with friends and family, exercising, getting enough sleep and doing things we enjoy. We have also debated the balance between doing things we want to do and doing the things we have to do.

We have been also been investigating cities and their features, progressing to why people might live in them and the positives and negatives of living in cities. Children's ideas included pollution, environmental impacts, job opportunities, transport links and facilities, such as shopping centres and theatres. Other learning has centred around the digestive system, learning about the journey food takes as we eat it and the roles different organs have in ensuring our food is used to provide energy. In art, we have been practising with different pencils to produce shading in our sketches.
