3/4Cedar Learning Update

Central idea: Water management can play a role which influences the environment.

We have enjoyed another busy week in 3/4 Cedar!

As part of our central idea, we have been looking at the journey of water in the water cycle by doing some fantastic creative writing, as told from the perspective of a water droplet. To help us feel inspired, we had great fun re-enacting the water cycle ourselves, particularly joining together to form clouds! We have also been creating our own River Art, having looked in detail at the Impressionist style of the painter Monet.

In Computing, we have been thinking about how to write algorithms. We started off by looking at the steps we need to take to perform an everyday task, such as shaking hands and then used coding blocks in Scratch.  We will be moving on to customising repeat blocks to repeat an action in a loop.

In Maths, we have been looking at angles and lines of symmetry. We have used Chrome Music Lab to design our own symmetrical musical patterns. We have very much enjoyed listening to our own and each other's musical creations.

We have continued to read "Song of the Dolphin Boy" together and found the main character's transformation into an inhabitant of the sea really interesting and it has very much brought our inquiry to life. We are keen to know how the story ends!

We have been lucky enough to have some exciting interactions with other classes this week. We were delighted to welcome Year 2 to our classroom this week and helped them with data for their maths investigation. We were also fascinated by the Year 6 exhibition and were eager to talk to the older children about their investigations and findings.
