1Spruce Learning Update

Central idea: People have a responsibilty to understand how to look after living things (plants).

Spruce Class have been working very hard learning about how to take care of plants. The children have been growing broad beans, tomatoes, strawberries and mint plants which the children have shown great care and responsibility in taking care of them.

Year 1 had visitors from the Marden Horticultural Society, who shared interested facts and information about different types of plants and how to take care of them. The children loved asking them a range of questions from what trees they had in their garden to what their favourite plant is. The visitors showed various plants and seeds which children were able to smell, touch and see.

In Art, the children have been learning about Andy Goldsworthy and Land Art. They have created their own pieces of Land Art understanding the importance of living with nature and sharing our planet.

Spruce class have shown a great passion for nature and are looking forward to finishing the last of the inquiry - An inquiry into our responsibility to the natural world.
