Central idea: Learning about history helps me understand the present

In the past two weeks, the children have learnt about the difference between prehistory and history. We have learnt about skills archaeologists and historians use to study the human past. We explored prehistoric ways of living and how they record their loves through cave painting.The children went into their own caves underneath the tables in the classroom and drew their very own cave drawings illustrating a school day in 2023. 

We described old-fashioned settings using a range of vocabulary and now we are moving onto our line of inquiry two where we are looking at objects from the past. First we took a lesson to understand what in fact an object is and why objects in the past are different to the ones that we have today. The children then compared toys from the past to the toys that they have today discussing the different shapes, colour and texture.
