LAT Cricket Tournament 2022 - CHAMPIONS!

On Friday, the school cricket team headed to Bexley to compete in the Leigh Academies Trust primary cricket tournament. Hosted by Bexley CC and on the 'undercard' of the Leigh Academies Trust Cricket versus PCA England Cricket Legends, we played 4 games against other schools within the Trust. Winning all four games, we topped our group and had the greatest accumulation of runs across our fixtures (over 340 runs) to win the tournament by almost 80 runs. A special mention must go to Elsie and Lexi ,who - before today - had never played cricket, but contributed with both bat and ball to the success of the team.

Throughout the day, the children were joined by ex-England cricketers who offered their advice and encouragement and even took the field against our team. Former players like Graham Gooch, Monty Panesar, Jonathan Trott, Owais Shah, Saj Mahmood, Alex Tudor, Ali Brown and James Treadwell were in attendance. Albert will certainly remember this day after smashing Ali Brown back over his head for a brilliant straight six; rather cheekily, he even asked him if he could bowl against him for the rest of the tournament!

As you can see from the images above, our team were extremely pleased to have met some of England's finest cricketers, having their shirts signed and creating memories their parents will be extremely jealous of!

Squad: Louis (c), Ollie, Albert, Daniel, Lucas, Lewis, Elsie and Lexi.
