General Questions

On Tuesday, April 21, 2020, Governor Baker announced that schools will not reopen this year. Our last official day of school is June 18, 2020.

Q. What should I do with my student's chromebook during the summer?

Students currently in grades 3 to 11 who borrowed a school chromebook should keep their chromebook over the summer. Students in grades PreK to 2 and grade 12 should return their chromebook to their respective schools when directed by their principal to return all other school items. If you have any questions please email an administrator at your child's school.

Students who are keeping the chromebooks over the summer are reminded that these devices are intended for educational use and they should bring them to school when we return in the fall.

Q. Can my student access materials in their desk or locker?
No, at this time, students may not access personal items in their desks or lockers, however, plans are underway so that students can retrieve their personal items and your building principal will be in touch regarding the plan for each school.

Q. What is the status of April Vacation?

A calendar change was made and Tuesday, April 21 through Friday, April 24 will be remote learning days. Monday, April 20 is a holiday and there will be no remote learning.

Q. What if I continue to need technical support with my chromebook?

Please email help@mansfieldschools.com with any questions you have. Be sure to include a telephone number so that someone can call you back. Please note that the caller ID may be blocked as many school employees are using their personal cell phones .

Chromebook Distribution and At-Home Usage (updated 4/3/20)

Q: If I have a device at home, do I have to pick-up a chromebook?

If you have a personal laptop, desktop, or chromebook at home equipped with a camera and microphone, you do not need to pick-up a school device.

Q: What if I need technical support using the chromebook?

Please email help@mansfieldschools.com with questions. Include a telephone number so that a representative can call you.

Please note that we are unable to support non-district devices if they require setting changes or other issues.

Q. My child cannot remember their google login or password, what should I do?

If your child cannot remember their google login or password, please email the principal in your building for assistance. Contact information can be found by clicking here

Q: Can I get another copy of the handout that was given to me when I picked-up my chromebook?

Q: My work schedule prevented me from picking up a device. What should I do?

Q. I didn't pick up a chromebook during distribution days but my situation has changed and I would like to use a school chromebook, is that possible?

A. Yes, please contact one of the administrators at the school your child attends with your request.

Q. How will the three-week closure impact the end of school?
Mansfield will be in school through June 24, 2020 which is our regularly scheduled 185th day. (posted 3/18/20)

Q. Currently schools are closed through at least May 4, 2020. If this date is extended, how will we will be notified?
We will continue to monitor the situation and will make decisions based on guidance from the State of Massachusetts and DESE. We will continue to notify families through newsletters and social media. (updated 4/4/20)

Q. What will happen to April Vacation (April 20-24)
There are currently no changes to April Vacation. (posted 3/18/20)

Q. Will there be access to any school buildings during the school closure?
At this time, all school buildings are closed. If you have a need to access the building, please contact the main office at the school or email the building principal. (posted 3/18/20)

Q. Can my student access materials in their locker?
No, at this time, students may not access their lockers. (posted 3/18/20)

Q. Will I be required to provide Doctor's notes for Excused Absences?
Doctor's notes will not be required for students. Healthcare professionals have many other more pressing priorities at this time. If you elect to keep your child at home for illness, please send in your own note to excuse the absence. (posted 3/18/20)

Q. How will you keep families updated? What are the official sources of information?

  1. The official source for information is the Mansfield Public Schools website.

  2. Official MPS Facebook and Twitter accounts. Please rely on information that is posted and not individual comments.

Q. Will my privacy be protected?
Maintaining our student and staff privacy is of extreme importance. We will preserve your privacy to the greatest extent possible while also taking whatever steps needed to address any COVID-19 exposure. We will not reveal your name or any other details to protect your identity. (posted 3/18/20)

Q. How do I obtain a work permit while schools are closed?
Scan or take a snapshot of your completed application for a work permit and attach to an email addressed to susan.jenkins@mansfieldschools.com. Please include your eye and hair color in the email. If you are unable to attach a copy of your application, please contact Mrs. Jenkins at this email address to discuss other options. A permit will then be scanned and attached to a return email if you are able to print it. Otherwise a permit will be mailed to you. Permits will be emailed or mailed to you on the first Tuesday or Thursday following your request.

If you are not a Mansfield High School student, you must supply a copy of your birth certificate and license/permit or photo id with current Mansfield address. Also, please state what grade you are in.

You must sign the permit before you give it to your employer. (Updated 6/16/20)
