Face Coverings

The following information was sent to families and staff on Sunday, February 27, 2022

Dear Families and Staff, We look forward to welcoming students back to school tomorrow, Monday February 28. There is an additional change to the COVID-19 protocols that were detailed in the February 18th newsletter.Late Friday, the CDC announced that, effective February 25, 2022, it is no longer requiring that masks be worn on school buses or vans for K-12 students and children in childcare programs. The Mansfield Public Schools will allow students to be mask optional on school buses and vans. An individual who wishes to continue to mask in any school setting will be supported in that choice. New Face Coverings Policy Effective February 28, 2022

On Tuesday evening, February 15, 2022, the Mansfield School Committee voted 4-0 to rescind the Face Coverings Policy (EBCFA) effective February 28, 2022. This decision was made in alignment with DESE/DPH Protocols for Responding to K-12 Scenarios and Commission Riley's memorandum dated February 9, 2022.


Face coverings are still required in the following situations:


  • on all school buses and vans

  • in all school health offices at the discretion of the school nurse

"The mask requirement remains an important measure to keep students safe in school at this time. Consistent with the authority provided by the Board, and after consulting with medical experts and state health officials, the Commissioner is extending the mask requirement through February 28, 2022.
