Robinson
From Principal Sankey's 1/29/21 Newsletter
Hello Robinson Families,
I am excited to share with you that plans are underway to bring our kindergarten students back for 5 days of full in-person learning starting March 1st. Our youngest students have had the most difficulty with online learning and our concerns over their academic and emotional well-being has driven this initiative. Our goal remains, and has always been, to bring all of our students back to full in-person learning, and this is the first step in that process.
We presented our plan to begin bringing students back for full in-person learning on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the school committee meeting and we received their endorsement. we have included below some key points which have led to this decision.
Adherence to state guidance to give the youngest students the first priority of returning to school
Confidence in our health metrics
Excellent mitigation efforts
No documented transmission from close contacts at Robinson
Perception survey data collected in November 2020
Advocacy and discussions with the Robinson faculty, staff and families
In addition, our transportation, food services, facilities, and health services departments are working vigorously to identify operational changes they will need to make to ensure everyone’s health and safety.
As we move forward with this next phase, we understand that you have questions and we invite you to participate in a meeting next week where we will present our complete plan.
With any COVID learning plan there are considerations, concessions and compromises. We are confident in our ability to implement this plan and firmly believe that the academic and social gains will benefit our youngest students.
Please join us for a virtual meeting via Zoom on Tuesday, February 2nd at 7:00pm. We look forward to seeing you!
