Good afternoon Manara STEM Families,
I hope everyone is enjoying the Labor Day holiday! September is a busy month, with the first six weeks already coming to a close on September 21!
Enjoy the beautiful weather! We are looking forward to seeing our scholars tomorrow morning!
#MAWAY!
Aimee Vinten
The mission of Manara Academy is to provide students with a creative, adaptive and ethical environment to become knowledgeable inquirers and future leaders in a diverse and evolving global society where we master languages, honor cultural heritages, and respect diversity.
Enjoy the Labor Day holiday! We will see all scholars back on campus Tuesday, Sept. 6.
As of Monday, August 22, all scholars should be in uniform. Please see the HOME page (upper right hand corner of the newsletter) for the link to the school uniform website (French Toast) if you need to order anything with our logo on it. All polo shirts (navy or gray) should have the Manara Academy logo, and all bottoms should be either navy or gray in color. Sweatpants and jeans are not uniform approved. Jeans can be worn on "Dress Down" designated days, but not during the week. Jackets/coats/sweatshirts should also be solid navy or solid gray in color. There should be no logos on the outerwear other than a Manara Logo (example, it should not read "Nike"). Some rooms are very cold, so please make sure your child has the appropriate outerwear available.
If you are still waiting for the uniforms to arrive, please make sure your scholar is still in navy or gray bottoms and a navy or gray solid shirt. Starting on Monday, scholars will call home for parents to bring them the correct uniform/colors. It is part of our Student Code of Conduct (Level 1 Offense) to be out of uniform. Please reach our to Mrs. Vinten (avinten@manaraacademy.org) if you have any questions or concerns.
The "Forget-Me-Not" table was a great success this week. If your child has forgotten an item from home (backpack, lunch, homework, jacket, etc.), please leave it on the "Forget-Me-Not" table labeled with his/her name and grade level. Ms. Smith will check the "Forget-Me-Not" table throughout the day, but if you would also like to call our front office to let us know you dropped something off or will be dropping something off that is great as well. Having this available means families do not have to come inside of the building to drop something off and will hopefully save families some time getting back to work or home!
All scholars have the opportunity to receive a free lunch through our cafeteria. Your scholar is also allowed to bring their lunch from home. Students will not be allowed to utilize the microwave we have on campus, as this is for staff only. If your student forgets their lunch from home, you can leave it on the "Forget-Me-Not" table at the entrance of the building. Thank you for your understanding!
There is a new system in place within Manara for students to be able to report school safety concerns. Manara Watch is a safe place for Manara Students to report their school safety concerns anonymously. Students are asked to provide enough details so the concern can be investigated thoroughly. In order to utilize the Manara Watch Link , students must be a current student and use their student email address to access this reporting system. This site is also available through the Home page link and is also on Manara's main website.
We have a wonderful PTO who are working diligently to make sure our scholars and families have fun and exciting opportunities available to them throughout the school year! More spotlight on them to come! Please fill out this link regarding a survey to try to best find out what time of day is most beneficial for the majority of families to attend after school activities. They have planned some AMAZING events and we want to make sure all families can attend! Thank you, also, to the PTO for creating the beautiful and helpful car tags for each family! If you are still needing one, or need an extra, please reach out to manarastempto@manaraacademy.org.
Our first Fall Scholastic Book Fair will be the week of September 12-16. On September 12, each class will have a designated time to be able to "view" the books at the book fair and create their personal "wish list". On Tuesday, September 13, this will be the first "shopping" day. If you would like to view the book fair and shop as well, I will host a "Visit with Vinten" donuts and coffee session on Tuesday, September 13 from 8-8:30am, in which I will talk about some great things going on within our campus, as well as you can get to know me better! After our "visit", you can peruse the book fair and shop! Please sign up at this link if you plan on attending the "Visit with Vinten" meeting. I hope to see you all there!
Each Friday dismissal will begin at 1:15. Thank you for being prompt in picking up your scholar(s) on this day, as teachers will be utilizing the afternoon to enhance their teaching through professional development and personal learning community (PLC) time. Thank you for the help and understanding!
Snack cart days are moving to Thursday afternoon. Please email the PTO with questions you may have concerning the items available for your scholar! manarastempto@manaraacademy.org
Below are links to grade level newsletters. Please reach out to your child's teacher with any questions!

We have a fantastic volunteer opportunity on our campus! If you would like to volunteer to help our Mini-Mavericks (Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade classes) during their lunch time in the cafeteria, please fill out this form. Volunteers in the cafeteria will help monitor scholars, help scholars open lunch items, make sure scholars are seated and safe eating their lunch, help monitor a low noise level and spend some time walking around the cafeteria engaging with scholars. The times volunteers are needed would be from 11:00am until 12:00pm. If you fill out the form with your eligibility, Mrs. Vinten will reach out to you regarding your volunteer day(s)/time(s). Thank you so much for helping our Mini-Mavericks!
If you need to meet with Mrs. Vinten due to a question or a concern, please scan the QR reader below and she will get back to you regarding setting up a conference time. This QR reader will also be available at the front desk for you to utilize. Thank you for helping us keep communication organized and efficient!
