Good afternoon, STEM families!
Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week is this week! Please help me in celebrating the BEST teachers and staff around! Within the newsletter you will find our Teacher Appreciation Week theme and all the fun things the PTO has been planning for the staff (a huge thank you to our PTO)! I love celebrating our teachers and staff, and am thankful for all they do for each scholar every day! Thank you for helping to celebrate them this week!
Yearbooks are on sale and will arrive on campus in two weeks! Don't delay and order yours today! Field day will be on Thursday, May 18. For $5.00 on field day, your scholar will receive a t-shirt, lunch (hot dog & drink), and Kona Ice snow cone! Please send in the money with your scholar no later than Monday, May 15 so that all the items can be ordered for that day.
15 more school days to go! I look forward to the fun last few days in the 2022-2023 school year!

We are quickly approaching the end of our school year! It has been an outstanding year at Manara and I wish to take a moment to thank you as parents for all of your support and involvement throughout the school year! You have been amazing partners and we are grateful for each and every one of you!
Would you please take a moment to complete our annual Parent Feedback and Input Survey? We use your feedback to guide next steps, celebrate what our parents support and use your input into developing future plans for the school, our students and our families. Please allow about 10 minutes to complete this survey. Thank you for your valuable input!

If your scholar has out-grown their uniform and you would like to donate them to the school, we are collecting gently used uniform pieces for girls and boys - all sizes. If enough pieces are collected at the end of the school year, we will have a "gently used uniform sale" at the beginning of the school year.
Please drop off clean, gently used uniform pieces that you no longer need to Ms. Smith. Thank you!
Our last birthday Thursday will be on May 25. If your scholar has a birthday in May, June, or July, you can send in treats with your scholar on May 25 (or leave them labeled on the Forget-Me-Not table outside the main entrance). Treats will be given out the last 30 minutes of the school day.
Per the state of Texas, a child must be in attendance at least 90% of the school year to be eligible as "completing" that school year. What that means for our school, is that your child should have no more than 18 absences through out the school year (excused or unexcused) as we have a school year with 180 school calendar days. Attendance at school is extremely important in order for each child to gain the knowledge needed to progress to the next academic year. If a child misses a large chunk of the school year and he/she is not academically meeting the state standards, there is a possibility of retention.
Our school day is from 8:00am until 3:30pm. Tardies will be accounted for if a scholar arrives after 8:00am or leaves before 3:30pm. Excessive tardies, along with attendance and grades, can factor into a scholar's grade placement for the next school year.
Please also reach out to Mrs. Vinten if your scholar will not be in attendance part of May due to traveling. We are closely monitoring attendance, so notification of this is necessary.
Please reach out to Mrs. Vinten if you have any questions (avinten@manaraacademy.org).
