Good afternoon Manara STEM Families,
Happy Friday! Report cards will be coming home the week of Sept. 26. We will print and send home hard copies of the report cards, so please look for them by Friday, Sept. 30.
We are looking forward to the Family Fun event on Thursday, September 29 from 4pm-5pm. If your child is creating a pumpkin for the book character pumpkin contest, they can bring it in any day next week, preferably by 8:00am on Thursday morning. All scholars were sent home with a flyer about the book character pumpkin contest, as well as there is information within the newsletter about the criteria. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher or to Ms. Smith.
Let me know if you have any questions or if I can be of service! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
#MAWAY!

The mission of Manara Academy is to provide students with a creative, adaptive and ethical environment to become knowledgeable inquirers and future leaders in a diverse and evolving global society where we master languages, honor cultural heritages, and respect diversity.
We are increasing our enrollment weekly on our campus! It is very exciting, as we love to see new scholars joining our Manara family each week!
If you know of any family who is interested in enrolling, please reach out to Ms. Smith so that she can contact them, or bring them by / have them stop by the campus so we can answer any of their questions! Any family who refers a family and they enroll their scholar, we will provide a FREE uniform shirt to your scholar as a "thank you" for referring them to our school!
On Thursday, September 29 from 4:00pm until 5:00pm we will be hosting our 2nd annual Family Fun Event! There will be some super fun activities tied in to reading (see below regarding the pumpkin book character contest), and STEM! We look forward to seeing all families on September 29!
Please remember to have your yellow car tag that has your scholar's name on it within your dashboard for dismissal. This is necessary for all families to have, as it aids with safety and swiftness within the car line. If you need another one, or are a newly enrolled family, please email the PTO at and they will make you one for your car. manarastempto@manaraacademy.org Thank you for helping to keep our scholars safe and our car line swift!
Fall is here! To celebrate this season, we will be having a pumpkin book character decorating contest! If your scholar would like to participate, purchase a small pumpkin (no larger than 8 inches in diameter, either real or craft pumpkin from a craft store), have your scholar pick a book that should be displayed (or at least the title and author) that they have read, and create away! Below are some examples of pumpkin book characters!
All pumpkins will line the hallways and scholars will have the opportunity to vote on three of their favorite pumpkins. Families will also have the opportunity to vote on September 29 at our Family Fun Night from 4pm until 5pm! Families attending the family fun event will receive 5 tickets to be able to vote for their favorite pumpkins! The top winner winner per class per grade level will then move to the final round, in which all scholars will vote again for the top three overall pumpkin book character. Fabulous prizes will be awarded to the top three winners (more to come on that in next week's newsletter)! Happy reading and Happy creating!
Scholars should arrive on campus by 8:00am. If it is past 8:00am, please walk your child into the front office area and sign them in for the day. Scholars are counted as tardy after 8:00am.
Breakfast is served from 7:35am until 8:00am. If a scholar arrives after 8:10am, breakfast will not be available, as the cafeteria staff have to begin preparing for lunch time. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Mrs. Vinten.
All scholars should be in uniform. Please see the HOME page (upper right hand corner of the newsletter) for the link to the school uniform website (French Toast) if you need to order anything with our logo on it. All polo shirts (navy or gray) should have the Manara Academy logo, and all bottoms should be either navy or gray in color. Sweatpants and jeans are not uniform approved. Jeans can be worn on "Dress Down" designated days, but not during the week. Jackets/coats/sweatshirts should also be solid navy or solid gray in color. There should be no logos on the outerwear other than a Manara Logo (example, it should not read "Nike"). Some rooms are very cold, so please make sure your child has the appropriate outerwear available.
If you are still waiting for the uniforms to arrive, please make sure your scholar is still in navy or gray bottoms and a navy or gray solid shirt. Scholars will call home for parents to bring them the correct uniform/colors. It is part of our Student Code of Conduct (Level 1 Offense) to be out of uniform. Please reach our to Mrs. Vinten (avinten@manaraacademy.org) if you have any questions or concerns.
The "Forget-Me-Not" table was a great success this week. If your child has forgotten an item from home (backpack, lunch, homework, jacket, etc.), please leave it on the "Forget-Me-Not" table labeled with his/her name and grade level. Ms. Smith will check the "Forget-Me-Not" table throughout the day, but if you would also like to call our front office to let us know you dropped something off or will be dropping something off that is great as well. Having this available means families do not have to come inside of the building to drop something off and will hopefully save families some time getting back to work or home!
All scholars have the opportunity to receive a free lunch through our cafeteria. Your scholar is also allowed to bring their lunch from home. Students will not be allowed to utilize the microwave we have on campus, as this is for staff only. If your student forgets their lunch from home, you can leave it on the "Forget-Me-Not" table at the entrance of the building. Thank you for your understanding!
There is a new system in place within Manara for students to be able to report school safety concerns. Manara Watch is a safe place for Manara Students to report their school safety concerns anonymously. Students are asked to provide enough details so the concern can be investigated thoroughly. In order to utilize the Manara Watch Link , students must be a current student and use their student email address to access this reporting system. This site is also available through the Home page link and is also on Manara's main website.
Each Friday dismissal will begin at 1:15. Thank you for being prompt in picking up your scholar(s) on this day, as teachers will be utilizing the afternoon to enhance their teaching through professional development and personal learning community (PLC) time. Thank you for the help and understanding!
Snack Cart will take place this Thursday, September 29. Please reach out to the PTO if you have any questions!
Below are links to grade level newsletters. Please reach out to your child's teacher with any questions!
September 29 is Birthday Thursday! If your scholar has a birthday in the month of September and you would like to bring in treats to share, please bring them in on this day. You can send them in with your scholar in the morning or leave them on the "Forget-Me-Not" table labeled with your scholar's name and grade. The last few minutes of the day the classes will celebrate September birthdays. As a reminder, all treats should be store bought and nut-free. Thank you!
Starting Friday, September 30, students can dress out of uniform on Friday's if when paying $1.00. All money will be utilized for supplies/items for our school and teachers. Please refer to the student code of conduct regarding permitted out of uniform clothing (example - no ripped jeans, appropriate language / phrases on t-shirts, etc).
If you need to meet with Mrs. Vinten due to a question or a concern, please scan the QR reader below and she will get back to you regarding setting up a conference time.
