ACCESSIBILITY
When designing and developing an online course, instructors need to consider the following accessibility standards:
The course acknowledges the importance of ADA requirements
Web pages provide equivalent alternatives to auditory and visual content
Web pages have links that are self-describing and meaningful
The course demonstrates sensitivity to readability issues
Make sure to include a disability statement in your course syllabus, such as follows:
Any student eligible for academic accommodations due to a disability or anyone who would like to consult with the Office of Accessibility and Inclusion (OAI) should visit our webpage www.npc.edu/oai and complete Step 1 “Contact for Services” to get things started. If you have question you can contact the office at 928-536-6246, our email address is oai@npc.edu or visit our webpage www.npc.edu/oai for additional information.
Also, be sure to include a public notice of non-discrimination in your course syllabus, such as follows:
Northland Pioneer College does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, veteran status, religion, marital status, gender, age or disability in admission or access to, or treatment or employment in its educational programs or activities. District grievance procedures will be followed for compliance with Title IX and Section 504 requirements. The Affirmative Action Compliance Officer is the Chief Human Resource Officer, 2251 E. Navajo Blvd., Holbrook, Arizona 86025, (928) 524-7471. The Section 504 Compliance Officer is the Coordinator of the Office of Accessibility and Inclusion, 1611 S.
