Disasters and Social Inequality
Disasters and Social Inequality
Professor Amy McFarland
In this course, students identify how disasters across the globe expose and exacerbate social inequalities and consider varying interpretations of disasters across global cultures. Students investigate the idea of natural versus unnatural disasters, and analyze the impact of technology, science, economy and politics on disaster risk and vulnerability through an interdisciplinary exploration.
For Winter 2025 Showcase, students in the class will present posters during the in-person event on April 4.
